From October 10 to 12, 2025, the historic center of Potenza hosted a vibrant new edition of Lucania is Comix, confirming its place as one of Southern Italy’s most exciting events dedicated to pop culture and gaming. Among the standout moments was the panel organized by Women in Games (WIG), which featured Teresa Romano, CEO of Kabum, as its leading voice, bringing to the stage a clear, forward-thinking and impactful vision.
Teresa Romano: vision, innovation, and responsibility in gaming
At the heart of the discussion, Teresa Romano shared Kabum’s journey as a company increasingly focused on developing innovative and immersive content. Her talk skillfully connected industry, technology, and social impact, emphasizing that gaming is not just entertainment, but also a powerful cultural medium.
One of the most anticipated highlights was the announcement of Kabum’s upcoming project: a virtual reality video game set for release in 2026, featuring Vera, the digital human developed by the team. The experience will take the form of an interactive narrative tackling the highly relevant issue of greenwashing, encouraging players to reflect on the contradictions of modern environmental communication.
The project has already received significant international recognition, winning the European CREA Media – Videogames and Immersive Content 2025 grant, confirming both the quality and relevance of the concept.
Romano stressed that this kind of production represents the future of the industry: immersive, story-driven, and socially conscious experiences capable of blending entertainment with meaningful messages—without becoming didactic.
A multidisciplinary panel
The discussion was moderated by Jessica “Miss Hatred,” a host and content creator who guided the conversation with energy and expertise.
Alongside Teresa Romano were Francesca Carrozza, a lawyer and legal consultant, and Anna Maso, a psychologist and mental coach in the esports field. Their contributions added further depth to the panel, touching on athletes’ rights and mental well-being in competitive gaming—both increasingly central topics in a rapidly evolving ecosystem.
A sign of change
Teresa Romano’s presence at Lucania is Comix represented far more than a guest appearance: it was a clear demonstration of how leadership, innovation, and inclusion can come together to drive meaningful change in the industry.
Her message was unmistakable: the future of gaming lies not only in new technologies, but also in new responsibilities. And Kabum appears ready to embrace both.
